When people find out that all of our latex mattresses are made from 100% pure, organic Dunlop latex, some wonder why we differentiate our models if they’re made from the same latex. So, in order to shed light on this matter, we’re here to discuss in detail what we mean by those terms.
Natural organic latex is a popular bedding material because of its inherent softness, pliability, durability, and breathability.
Its open cell structure makes allows for efficient air flow and comfortable sleep. As one of the choicest mattress construction materials around, natural organic latex is often used in luxury mattresses for the support core or comfort layer.
However, it can also be abused for profiteering. Most mainstream mattress companies call any mattress that contains latex a “latex mattress”, or any mattress with a blended poly/cotton cover an organic mattress (It says Organic on the fabric!) so it’s always important to confirm what someone actually means. We don’t consider 1” of latex over a synthetic foam or innerspring core a true latex mattress as you don’t get any of the comfort or support properties that way.
At Nature’s Embrace, we make a distinction between our latex and organic mattresses even though both these products are made from the same high-quality Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) certified 100% organic Dunlop latex. However, there is one small but significant difference: the cover.
In adherence to Canada’s mattress flammability standards, our latex mattresses use a cellulose fibre (Tencel or Bamboo) blended with polyester, so we do away with the need for additional fire retardants.
Meanwhile, our organic mattresses are encased in a 100% Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton cover quilted with PureEmbrace Joma Wool® that’s Oeko-tex certified.
At Nature’s Embrace, we have successfully combined scientific innovation and traditional craftsmanship to optimize the use of natural organic mattress materials.
To address people’s different comfort requirements and budgets, we’ve come up with a range of latex and organic mattresses fabricated to provide proper lumbar support and the utmost in comfort so you can achieve good-quality sleep.
So, whether you purchase a latex mattress or an organic mattress from us, you’ll be getting the same GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex in your bed. The only essential difference, really, is the cover – and we leave the final decision to you.
