Each shikibuton is hand-layered using natural cotton and wool, creating a firm yet forgiving sleep surface that rests directly on the floor or on a tatami mat. A latex mattress is any mattress that contains latex rubber. However,not all latex mattresses are equal. Some are made from 100% latex while other are made from a combination of materials and contain as little as 1/4" of latex. Some use synthetic based latex while others use natural latex. At Nature’s Embrace, we use GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex and natural Talalay latex for a cleaner, healthier sleep. We also use 2-4" of latex in our hybrid latex options. When shopping for latex mattress it's always important to compare apples-to-apples to ensure you're getting the best fit and value.

Our hybrid latex mattress combines the natural comfort of latex with the deep support of an individually wrapped pocketed coil system. The latex layer(s) offer responsive contouring and pressure relief, while the coil base adds bounce, airflow, and durability. Our designs blend the best of both worlds: the resilience of natural latex with the comfort of traditional spring mattresses. We use at least 2" of latex in our hybrids, but some hybrids contain less than an inch. Although that saves money in the short term, it's fundamentally more expensive as you don't receive any of the benefits of latex that way. Hybrid latex models are ideal for those who want the enhanced support and comfort of latex in a more traditional mattress setup.

A vegan mattress is made without any animal-derived materials such as wool or silk. At Nature’s Embrace, our vegan mattresses use Bamboo or Tencel fabrics instead of Cotton, as Cotton must be combined with a fire retardant, and wool is the only natural fire barrier.
