A vegan mattress is made without any animal-derived materials such as wool or silk. At Nature’s Embrace, our vegan mattresses use Bamboo or Tencel fabrics instead of Cotton, as Cotton must be combined with a fire retardant, and wool is the only natural fire barrier. Your sleeping position plays a key role in choosing the right latex mattress. Side sleepers often prefer Soft to Medium-Firm mattresses for pressure relief at the shoulders and hips. Back sleepers benefit from medium to firm support that promotes spinal alignment. Stomach sleepers need firmer surfaces to prevent lower back sagging. Dunlop latex is denser and firmer, ideal for support layers or those who prefer a more supportive feel. Talalay latex is lighter and airier—making it great for plush comfort layers. Although both can be made with natural materials, it's far more common for 100% Natural latex to be made from the Dunlop process and synthetic blends to be made from the Talalay process. The only commercially available GOLS certified organic products are made using the Dunlop process. Most of our mattresses are made with Dunlop latex, but we also offer Original and Natural Talalay for those looking for added softness.

Yes, latex has a natural aroma. This scent is non-toxic and usually dissipates within a few days to a few weeks, depending on ventilation and a person's sensitivity to smell. In rare cases, those with very strong sensitivities may always notice a slight odour. However, it’s very different from the strong chemical off-gassing you may experience with synthetic foams. Many people even find the natural latex smell neutral or even pleasant. If you’re sensitive to scents, we can air the components in our factory upon request. This process takes 2-3 weeks.

Latex mattresses perform best on a rigid, breathable surface. We recommend slatted platform beds with slats 1-2.5" apart (no more than 3") or a solid base with ventilation. As a general rule, there should be more support than air, and you should avoid box springs and bowed / flexible slats, which can cause uneven support. We cover the internal layers to protect the latex from damage and oxidation. Latex is naturally grippy and delicate to the touch, so enclosing each layer in a protective fabric reduces wear during setup, adjustment, or transport. More importantly, double-covering everything helps reduce the effects of air and light, which slowly break down the latex over time, greatly increasing the lifespan of your mattress.

The best mattresses for kids are firm, breathable, and made with natural materials. In the absence of parental preferences, our Standard mattresses are the ideal choice for growing bodies as they are on the firmer side but still provide comfort.

My original order of this mattress got lost by the courier. When I got in touch with Tyson about the issue, he immediately got to work trying to find it. When there was no luck finding the mattress, he made a whole new mattress for me. He even sent a complimentary pillow as a goodwill gesture! I've had the mattress for a couple weeks now. I ordered the Medium-Firm firmness since I sleep on my side and have a shoulder injury (this is the firmness Tyson recommended). I'm used to sleeping on a firm mattress and I was concerned it would be too soft, but honestly, it's really comfortable and my shoulder is already starting to feel better. I can't recommend Nature's Embrace enough. Both their service and product are excellent!

This mattress is a HUGE improvement from our old one. As side-sleepers the medium-firm mattress provides a good balance of plush support. It shipped swiftly, and the latex smell faded within a couple weeks. We look forward to many years of sweet dreams, and can rest easy knowing it was made with organic materials.

Because I am a heavier person, the reading I did all pointed to latex at the best option for a bed, rsther than memory foam, as memory foam breaks down quicker. The extra firm is perfect for my back issues, yet has enough give on points that it doesn't make my bursitis flare up. It does take a week to off-gas (36 hours for the worst of it) but that's fairly normal. I have only had it a month but it's the best mattress I've had. Time will tell if it's still holding up after 4 years, when my memory foam started to give out.

Sleep has never been this good!

Having become a little more environmentally aware in the last few years I dreaded the concept of buying a new mattress, but luckily I found Natures Embrace.
My quality of life has increased so much that I could easily justify spending more on this mattress. It is so comfortable and I feel so refreshed each morning that I just can't wait to go back to bed each night. Oh, and they are environmentally conscious, Canadian and really good people to deal with.
